The Symposium of Palaeontological Preparation and Conservation
The next meeting of SPPC will be in 2009, Bristol, UK and will be a joint meeting with the Preparator's session of the Society of Vertebrate Paleontology (SVP)
Clarifications regarding the SVP and SVPCA/SPPC:
Lost of questions have come about how SVPCA and SPPC are organised this year.
The main questions are in regard of registration and the SPPC session:
- Any regular SVPCA and SPPC attendees will be charged as if they SVP members. This makes it considerably cheaper.
- The SPPC joins the Preparators session which is held the Thursday the 24th of September.
- This is a different event from the Adhesives Workshop, which is held the day before the SVP meeting starts on the Tuesday the 22nd of September.
- Where it IS possible to just register for the workshop only, please contact r.schouten@bris.ac.uk directly.
- It is also possible to just register for one day ( as opposed to just the SPPC, which is NOT possible).

See you in Bristol!
The SPPC is intended as a forum in which professionals, amateurs and researchers alike, interested in all aspects of preparation, conservation, model-making and related subjects, can participate. The SPPC offers a unique opportunity to meet friends and colleagues and to discuss recent developments, ongoing research, and other, often museum related, projects. Although the SPPC generally precedes the the SVPCA conference, contributions are not limited to the field of vertebrate palaeontology.
SPPC Conferences have been run since 1992, either before or after the SVPCA, and many participants attend both conferences. Over recent years the number of talks on offer has been in decline, and there is a need for discussion on the nature and identity of this event. Conferences are held in a variety of venues, and offer a great opportunity both to share experience and to have the chance to look over the facilities other organisations and how they are used.
